Tabula Rasa II: Art and Experience -
What is it that the artist values above all—more than money, fame, or any ideology? For artist, the most precious commodity is space: a public forum where they can exhibit work and have it seen and responded to by members of the community. And while there are several excellent galleries in the Triad, the number of artists who wish to display their work still far exceeds the space in which to show it. What this means, unfortunately, is that countless talented and inventive artists do not have the opportunity to exhibit their work. The public is likewise deprived, for they are denied the rewarding and informative experience of viewing the work. This mutually enriching expierence is what Tabula Rasa is all about. With this event and others, we at GateCityArt–along with artists and interested citizens throughout the Triad–hope to wipe the slate clean to create a socially and financially neutral space where art and audience can interact. visit www.gatecityart.org for more information.
