Tabula Rasa II: Art and Experience -
What is it that the artist values above all—more than money, fame, or any ideology? For artist, the most precious commodity is space: a public forum where they can exhibit work and have it seen and responded to by members of the community. And while there are several excellent galleries in the Triad, the number of artists who wish to display their work still far exceeds the space in which to show it. What this means, unfortunately, is that countless talented and inventive artists do not have the opportunity to exhibit their work. The public is likewise deprived, for they are denied the rewarding and informative experience of viewing the work. This mutually enriching expierence is what Tabula Rasa is all about. With this event and others, we at GateCityArt–along with artists and interested citizens throughout the Triad–hope to wipe the slate clean to create a socially and financially neutral space where art and audience can interact. visit www.gatecityart.org for more information.

Site Design Update

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

The site redesign has finally been completed. GateCityArt has now implemented some new features; some of them include a new interactive events calendar where anyone can add an event to it, a new online gallery where registered members have full access to upload, edit, and delete their own work. The site is now powered by WordPress Weblog and is set up so that the public can comment on post/announcements and can leave comments about the work that is submitted to the online gallery. Also with the site now being set up as a blog there are RSS feeds available for the main entries & comments and the Event entries and Event comments.

There are still some bugs that are being worked out of the redesign, but all them should be taken care of over the next few days or so. If you run into any issues please post them in the comments of this post.
