Site Status: explaining the past few days

For the most part we are back and fully operational. We have switch hosting companies and now GateCityArt.org resides on a new server w/ a new hosting company. We decided to switch companies when our old company dropped the ball and tried to transfer one server to another and then that server crashed, leaving us down for a day or so starting last Wednesday night. This downtime could not have happened at a worst time since we had two events last weekend, so our old hosting company moved us temporarily, or so we thought, to a more stable but slower server so we could get back up and running. This transfer messed a lot of things up with the site and basically broke the online gallery. Then we got to work getting everything working again and in doing that we realized that the server we were moved to was way to slow for our needs, since we host a good amount of images. So we contacted our old hosting company and asked to be moved to a faster server and they basically told us that the server we were on was fine. SO to make a long story short we have cancelled hosting with them and moved to our new home with DreamHost.

There are still some issues with the site, but for the most part we are back up and running. The one major issue we are still having is our calendar is not working yet. Another issues is that if you click on the gallery image in the side bar of the site the page format gets messed up. we are working to fix these issues and hope to have everything worked out soon.

One major thing that has changed is that “right click” has been disabled in the Online Gallery portion of the site to help keep the integrity of the artist work. We have also made it so that you can not browse the index folders and gain direct access to the file of the work from the site and save/download them from there. We have done this since a few submitting artist have asked for it, so that people can not just download their artwork.
